Strategic Design Summary
“Enterprise architecture a well-defined practice for conducting enterprise analysis, design, planning, and implementation, using a comprehensive approach at all times, for the successful development and execution of strategy.” according to Wikipedia at the time of writing. But what does that mean? The first half of it makes sense but what is, “the successful development and execution of strategy.”?
Here’s a diagram that should help you put EA into its context and explain what we mean by “the successful development and execution of strategy.”
For good measure, here’s another diagram that shows a different angle so that you know who does what. If you take the Operating Model or Target Operating Model from the diagram above, this is what it looks like on the inside.
It’s a rough industry average so probably won’t be an exact match for your business. Not least because most businesses are complete cowboys about job titles. The above is how it’s “supposed” to be.
